Dependent Age Coverage Update for Fully Insured Groups

Last year, the Illinois Insurance Code was amended to mandate extending coverage to unmarried dependents to age 26 under insured health benefit policies. The Illinois law also allowed parents to extend coverage for unmarried military veteran dependents living in Illinois until age 30. Delta Dental of Illinois and TruAssure Insurance Company (if applicable to your group) proactively extended the age limit for all fully insured groups at renewal, allowing unmarried dependents to stay on their parents' dental and vision care plans until age 26.
